What Kind of Fish Is Dory?

Dory is a Pacific Blue Tang Fish, also called a Royal Blue Tang and a Hippo Tang. While the name includes Blue, not all of the blue tangs are not blue. When a blue tang fish is young they are actually yellow and at night, when there is no light, it looks white with a slight bit of violet.

The Blue Tang lives in the coral reefs, eating algae, and keep the reefs from being overrun with algae. Blue Tangs have not been able to be bred in captivity and that means when people want these gorgeous fish for their aquariums, the fisherman has to catch them from the ocean, using cyanide. The fisherman will squirt it directly in the fish’s face or pump it into the water. This causes the fish to come to the surface and then they can be easily scooped up. This pollutes the water and can kill fish and damage the reefs.

Octopuses are amazing creatures. They can camouflage themselves when they need to hide and they can also camouflage themselves when they are trying to catch food. Just like Hank, the octopuses hide by changing their skin color.
