These Glitter Easter Eggs are guaranteed to transform boring, regular eggs into colorful, shimmering treasures! With these cute crafts on hand, you’ve got the perfect Easter decoration to brighten up your home and jazz up any Easter basket just for the occasion.

How To Make DIY Glitter Easter Eggs: Beautiful Easter Decoration
Easter is just around the corner and one of our favorite activities this time of the year has to be decorating Easter eggs. They’re just so fun to make and you can really let your creativity shine. There are endless possibilities, from Disney Princess-inspired eggs and friendly egg monsters to Toy Story aliens.
This year, I decided to try a simpler design. It’s like traditional egg dyeing, but you’ll end up with glitter eggs that sparkle and shine! By the time you’re done, you’ll have a batch of vibrant, glittery eggs that don’t just look amazing—they totally steal the show!

Why We Love This Craft
- Budget-Friendly – You won’t find any fancy materials here, and you might even have most, if not all, of these supplies at home. If you don’t, they can easily be found at your neighborhood Target, Walmart, or Dollar Tree store.
- Easy To Make – The steps to this mess-free egg DIY are pretty straightforward, and we’ll guide you through each one.
- Fun For Parties – This colorful craft makes a great activity for Easter parties! After the kids come in from their plastic Easter egg hunt, they can keep the fun going by decorating real eggs.

Materials Needed
Here’s a list of what you need for this craft:

Supplies:
- Boiled eggs, hollowed out eggs or foam eggs
- Fine Glitter (a variety of colors)
- Elmer’s Glue (or Mod Podge)
- Quart Baggies
- Hairspray (optional)
Equipment:
- Paint Brush
- Small bowl
Tip: While this craft works great with boiled eggs, I love using hollowed out eggs or foam eggs because they can be saved indefinitely (or until they break – whichever comes first). That means you can even use them as Easter home decor the following year.

Tips & Tricks
- Make sure the boiled eggs are nice and dry before using them in this project. If they’re damp, then both the glue and glitter might not adhere to the egg’s surface properly.
- You can use any eggs for this craft, including brown, farm-fresh, or white eggs.
- Although entirely optional, using hairspray on your Easter eggs helps to cut down on the glitter shedding. Any type will work so I suggest using the cheapest brand.
- I wouldn’t recommend coating the glitter with another layer of glue (instead of hairspray) to hold them in place – it’ll just make a thick, gloppy mess of your eggs.
- Shaking the glitter over the eggs after applying a layer of glue won’t work – the glitter coating won’t be nearly as smooth and you’ll only end up with a disaster on your hands. Using the quart baggie is much better as it prevents you from making a mess (every mom’s horror, I know).
- Fine and slightly chunky glitter work best for this DIY. Avoid using bigger glitter, as the coverage won’t be as good.
- You don’t need to coat the eggs in a thick layer of glue! A basic thin layer will work.

Creative Uses For Your Glitter Eggs
I love using hollowed out eggs for Easter because you can do so much more with them. You could use foam Easter eggs as well. Here are a few ideas…
- Decorating your mantle
- Easter tree decorations
- Easter party DIY craft
- Props for Easter themed photo-ops
- Easter basket stuffers
- Fun Easter party favors

Glitter Easter Eggs
Equipment
- paint brush
- small bowl
Ingredients
- boiled eggs we'll start with 6, but do as many as you like
- fine glitter a variety of colors
- Elmer’s Glue
- quart baggies
- hairspray optional
Instructions
- Place the Elmer’s glue (or any white craft glue you have) in a small bowl.
- Add different color glitters to individual baggies. I highly recommend not mixing the colors so you’ll get solid-colored eggs. Also, for this project, I added only a couple of tablespoons of glitter per bag, but filling it a bit more (if possible) would definitely be better.
- Use the paintbrush to coat one boiled egg at a time in glue. Make sure the egg is completely covered – don’t miss a spot!
- Gently drop the glue-coated egg into a bag of glitter, then roll it around. Try to be careful not to scrape the egg against the sides of the bag!
- Once the egg is completely coated in glitter, leave it in the bag and lay it flat for about 2 minutes. This will give the glitter time to stick firmly to the egg and keep it from prematurely flaking off.
- Remove the egg from the bag. If you see that any spots didn’t get coated with glitter, apply glue in just those areas then drop the egg back in the bag to repeat the process.
- When finished, apply hairspray to keep the glitter from shedding (optional)
- Let the eggs dry completely for about 8-10 minutes and enjoy!
